getting source and creating patch

Hamlet D'Arcy
Never used git before...

To get the source code to gpars I need to do a "git clone"... but what
is the parameter give it?

"git clone http://git.codehaus.org/ " doesn't seem to work.

Re: getting source and creating patch

Ted Naleid
You need to use the git protocol: git clone git://git.codehaus.org/gpars.git

I didn't see that on the website anywhere either, but it should probably be added to the source page.

Yeah, the developer zone page still says to use SVN (which I didn't
see until now).

Thanks Ted.

And doing:

   gradlew clean build

results in:
  Downloading http://snapshots.dist.codehaus.org/gradle/gradle-0.9-20091118152522+1100-gpars-bin.zip

Exception in thread "main" java.io.FileNotFoundException:

All this, and I was literally going to fix a typo in documentation :)

Hamlet,

All I can say is that my reaction was "what the f$$$" :-(

There is clearly a fault in the way in which material is being uploaded
to the Git repository on Codehaus.  What you did was the right thing to
do, what happened was well out of order.  It will be fixed.

That page is wrong.  It should be amended.  Where is it?  Anyone using
SVN other than the developers (*) to work with GPars will have the
Hamlet Zombies sent to sort them out :-)

(*) There is a silly issue that means we can't actually switch fully to
Git for the next few weeks.  This means development is happening through
a Subversion repository -- which really sucks but it is necessary.
No-one other than the committing developers should even contemplate
using Subversion, which is so last millenium.

There was clearly some weird caching problem at play, not to mention a
reversion got applied somewhere along the line reverting data to that
which it should not have been.  I think I have no cured the problem.

The Gradle Wrapper should pull Gradle 0.9-20091118152522+1100 from the
Gradle repository and install it in ~/.gradle/wrapper/dists (always wise
to keep this directory clean and tidy otherwise you get lots of waste.

My clones of git://git.codehaus.org/gpars.git are all now consistent and
working as they should.

If you do a git pull on your repository it should update.  Just check
that:

        |> more wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties

        distributionBase=GRADLE_USER_HOME
        distributionPath=wrapper/dists
        zipStoreBase=GRADLE_USER_HOME
        distributionVersion=0.9-20091118152522+1100
        zipStorePath=wrapper/dists
        #urlRoot=http://dist.codehaus.org/gradle
        urlRoot=http://snapshots.dist.codehaus.org/gradle
        distributionName=gradle
        distributionClassifier=bin

Sorry about this, I have no idea what went amiss.

The DeveloperZone page is what said to use subversion:

I'm happy to see that people are associating me with zombies rather
